Once in a while the Alcona Humane Society will get into the shelter older animals. For our featured pets we have 3 fantastic dogs who just happen to be seniors. The great thing about seniors is that a lot of the time all you have to do is love them and enjoy their company.Jewel is our lab chow mix who is 10 yrs old, spayed and great with other dogs. She was turned into the shelter due to the family getting divorced and now she is looking for her new forever family, again! She is great with kids and would fit into any family just perfectly! She may be 10, but this ol gal has a lot of spunk!!!
Next is our Warner. He was found wondering with his friend “Wade” in the woods and both were in great need of some special attention. Warner’s nails were so overgrown that they were curling into the pads of his feet and of course he was covered in fleas. He also had what seemed to be like a oil residue all in his ears and on his nose. With all that this dog has been through, he still loves us humans. Warner is neutered, loves other dogs and would be happy with a big couch to lounge around on. He is housebroken and often you will find him swinging around his favorite stuffed frog!!
Last but not least is our Chance. I can’t tell you enough how much I love this guy! He was brought into the shelter with his brother, “Buddy” due to a family issue. The woman who turned them in really had no choice and I must say she did a fantastic job with these two. Chance’s brother has since been adopted so now we are waiting for the perfect home for him. Chance is 13 yrs old and I know what you are thinking, “No way am I adopting a 13yr old dog.!” Well I am here to tell you that you would never guess that he is 13. He runs, plays and most of all just wants to be loved. When you look into those sad brown eyes, it just melts your heart! Chance gets along with dogs, cats and would make a GREAT addition to any family. If you can find it in your heart to give this boy the best last years of his life, please come in and see him. I promise you that you won’t leave without a kiss or two!
